A Week in the Life

Really happy to have this done, but an issue with Wordpress desaturating the colors on my pages is getting frustrating and this page is really exemplifying that. Looks like I'm gonna have to burn some time beating my head against this. >.o

  1. I think you’re ok with less background here, the pages are pretty busy with All. The. People. So. Many. People. You realize you have FORTY ONE BODIES in this one, right? This must have taken a while to put together. I am amazed at your kick-ass artistry, the faces and poses carry the story here QUITE WELL.

..if that’s not Min Hua in the dance class it must be her mirror universe twin, btw.

Also, I hope that Jane’s shop shows up later, it sounds like an incredibly cool place. Stitch-n-Bitch sessions, indeed!

Wow. There… there really are that many. I didn’t count while I was going (not enough time) but… like… huh.
I’m glad it came out well xD

I maaay have used Min’s coloring for that gal in dance class. Used Rei’s for the lady at the stitch’n’bitch as well.
I apparently really like drawing old people. They were so much fun x_x

I was originally going to have the police officer responding to Sarah and Ash’s attack take his interview of Ash at the shop, but time restraints didn’t leave me enough to work with all the shelving, clothing racks, layouts, etc. I posted a shot of it on DA like… a bazillion years ago. It has Amanda’s original design from when she was a gawky, superpale white girl. https://aaronmizuno.deviantart.com/art/Jane-s-Store-297940882
Not much to see, but those herb shelves would have taken me waaay more time than I had to work with.

… I really need to step up my background game.

      1. *Love* the drawing of the shop, it’s pretty much how I expected it to be. Early Amanda is very reminiscent of Susan from El Goonish Shive both in look and mannerisms.

I also like how you can make characters that are slightly heavier than average, yet look completely comfortable and at-ease with their size. That is a difficult thing to get across with drawings, but it makes your comic much more realistic. You also do a *really* good job with the older ladies as well.

On the subject of Min Hua, and Rei, I noticed Rei’s palette on the one woman, but the differences in facial expression and personality made it seem to be a different person– the one with Min Hua’s coloring has a very similar face to Min Hua. In any case, it’s an easter egg 😉

  2. i love julie’s expression

  3. How often does Jane change hair color in a month?

    1. Ryan Gindlesperger

Depends on how she feels. It happens pretty dang often though. <3

  4. I’m noticing much brighter colors, did you figure out the problem? Maybe it’s because I’m using my son’s monitor instead of my own.

    1. Yeah, it’s his monitor. Never mind.

  5. GRAAAA. I wrote a big long posting about why WordPress might be graunching your images and WordPress ate it. Rather than boring everyone with a bunch of inside baseball about the weirdness of WordPress, I’ll just say that there is a conversion that WordPress does that reduces the number of colors you have in your image. If you do the conversion yourself you can do something about the desaturation– but if you let WordPress do it it will just zorch your image and post it.

Without knowing your process I can only poke at it with a sharp stick– but if you want, drop me an email and maybe I can help.

  6. Um, just a question? On Thursday, is Jane fussing with Ash’s hair or is does she have her hand on Sare’s shoulder? Or maybe both?

    1. Ryan Gindlesperger

      Oh. My. God.
Jane has an extra arm in there.
What am I even doing? xD
Also, I’m totally going to take you up on the tech help. I’ll sling you the details of what I’m doing, cause I’ve tried everything our Google-fu could find, but none of the pre-work is doin’ the trick.

      1. Dooooo it. Dooooo it. I’m not exactly an expert but I’m happy to try to help.

BTW, I’m assuming you have my email from the posting, if you need it let me know.
