Whenever you call it “The System” I get this “oooo eeee oooo” feeling. Not a good thing.
This jaunt into the past is entirely Aaron and company checking to make sure there hasn’t been any alterations to Sarah’s personality as a side effect of the power imbue. That’s a lot of time to cover in a… well… short amount of time?
We get a drawn out version of this particular critical instance since I sadly can’t offer up a memory-stream download for my readers, but yeah. “The System” in this case is just referring to the doodad the out-of-towners are using to catch up. Still woomy, less ooo-eee-ooo-ey.

I’d say it’s safe to assume their instance of Earth has a few more differences that’ll pop up that are part symptom of being an AU and part the author didn’t research that angle on things 😀
