Things took longer than expected.
Wildly different experiences, but they kept in touch the entire time.

So, yeah. That was the most sick I've been since high school. Two weeks of solid brain pudding. I'm still feelin' it, but it let up enough that today and yesterday wasn't a total wash. Even getting this much done was difficult, but I should have a finished version up by the end of Wednesday. <3 Didn't want you all to be kept waiting.
Gah, they're so cute.
Ash's hair is huge!
-=Updated with color! The idea in the comments about faded color was good, but ultimately I decided against it. They both started to develop entirely separate experiences from this, diverging paths of interest that otherwise would have been impossible. Ultimately, as much as the distance sucked, they were both enriched by the experience.

Wait, they’ve been apart 3 years? Ye gods, how did they handle *that*?
I am lovin’ 9 year old Sarah’s hair.

Very differently.
There WERE at least annual visits and near nonstop social media contact, but the distance was definitely felt. One of them adapted far better as time went on.

I hope you don’t mind me saying so, but this would make a wonderful finished version as-is. The years apart done as lineart to show how those years were less-than-complete without the other girl around. Then, @ 13 when they’re together again, the world springs back into full colour. I thought it was being done that way intentionally until I got down to the comments.
Anyways, glad to hear you’re feeling better.

That is a really cool idea, actually… though I’d still go with color, just faded depending on how much the distance bothered them. I like it. Yoink!

Ahhh! I love this!

Yeah, it was so sad earlier (later? ugh) when Ash had Jane cut it off. Her hair has quite the personality. Then again, I miss Min Hua’s hair as well, even though it doesn’t have the personality Ash’s does.
I notice you have Ash straight-arming her phone even now, like she is in the first page of Ignition– good show on continuity. (I can’t do this any more, my arms aren’t long enough for me to read my phone 😉

She’s actually doing a selfie there. They’re still in “long distance communication” mode at 13.

Loving seeing how they grew up. Sarah seems to be a loner while Ash seems to be more social. Also, how much of her mother did Ash take after?
